The expansion of the Zaragoza Logistics Platform (Plaza 4.0) promoted by the Aragonese real estate company Wilcox opposite the La Peñaza golf club now has the green light from all the involved public bodies, so construction is expected to begin in the last quarter of the year. Thus, the company itself and the Government of Aragon will have six urbanized plots totaling an area of 106 hectares by the end of the legislature, in spring 2027, if there are no further delays.
The project finally has the last pending report, from the Ministry of Defense, which took nine months to validate the proposal. Since it is located near the airport and the Air Base, it had to take a position on the possible impacts on the approach routes to the two runways, and a month ago it issued its verdict: it is not necessary to impose height restrictions on the future buildings, as was the case in the three construction phases of the neighboring Zaragoza Logistics Platform (Plaza).
The very morphology and location of the chosen land, 242 hectares located on the other side of the Madrid highway, from the Zaragoza Ciudad Golf roundabout to the height of the El Cisne service station, have prevented the imposition of restrictions.
The Wilcox technical team must now incorporate those requirements set by other agencies, such as the Directorate General of Highways, which has required expanding the turning radius of the two A-2 junctions that will serve as access points to handle the expected traffic volume. The State Highways Department in Aragón understood that these junctions need increased capacity due to the heavy truck traffic that the new logistics area may generate.
