The Bank of Spain warns that barely 2,500 brand-new homes are delivered each year in the Community and highlights the effect on prices. Builders are requesting guarantees for purchases and to build smaller homes.
The access to housing and the rising prices in the sector will continue to be a problem unless the construction of new homes accelerates significantly. This is the view of the Bank of Spain, which in its annual report on the country’s economic situation even estimates a deficit of 21,700 homes in Aragón, the number needed to meet the demand from the growing creation of households, which are increasingly smaller but more numerous according to current social trends.
The employers' association agrees with the diagnosis and calls on the different administrations for aid and guarantees for purchasing, as well as to relax regulations to build smaller -and therefore more affordable- homes in accordance with that reality.
