La Garena, Luis Vives, and Manuel Azaña have been recognized for their outstanding environmental performance

As part of the celebrations of the 20th Environment Week, the City Council of Alcalá has awarded a commemorative plaque and a diploma to the schools Luis Vives, La Garena and Manuel Azaña, in recognition of their effort and work after obtaining the Green Flag from the Eco-Schools Program, which has been developed by the Departments of Education and Environment together with the organization ADEAC, the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education.

Currently, the program, promoted by the two municipal departments, is implemented in 11 educational centers in the city, 8 of which already have the Green Flag.

The participating centers aim to improve environmental behavior, encouraging new generations to develop respect for nature and responsibility for preserving our environment. The centers apply a comprehensive methodology that includes the creation of an Environmental Committee, conducting an Environmental Audit, and preparing an Action Plan to address various environmental issues such as water, waste, and energy.

Centers that manage to meet these objectives over a period of three years are recognized with the green flag, highlighting their commitment and environmental performance.
