Madrid and Alcalá de Henares lead among the most sought-after municipalities in Spain for buying a home.

Madrid, Alcalá de Henares, Valencia, Torrent (Comunidad Valenciana), and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria have topped the list of the most demanded municipalities for buying a home between April and June, according to a study by Idealista.

Specifically, the ranking of demand in the buying and selling of homes in Spain for the second quarter includes this time 104 cities that meet the requirements of significant market ‘stock’ and more than 1,100 euros per square meter.

The average price, with locations that can exceed 2 million euros compared to the 130,000 euros of the most affordable, approaches 365,000 euros.

According to the study, the vast majority of these towns are below this price, except for tourist destinations and provincial capitals such as Palma (€670,000), San Sebastián (€604,000), Madrid (€526,000), Barcelona (€413,000), or Málaga (€368,000).

The list of the most expensive towns is led by Benahavís (Málaga), with an average price close to 2.3 million euros on the Costa del Sol, followed by Marbella (1.6 million), although surpassed by the Mallorcan municipality of Calvià (1.7 million), Sotogrande (1.17 million), and Altea (1.1 million).

In contrast, the most demanded lower-priced areas are Manresa (€130,500), located in the province of Barcelona; Roquetas de Mar (€133,250) in Almería, Huelva (€136,000), Palencia (€136,400), or the town of Águilas in Murcia (€138,000).
